What if the moment you froze as a child… is the exact reason your voice shakes today?

A reel. A memory. A reckoning.
What if the moment you froze as a child… is the exact reason your voice shakes today?

Two weeks ago, I started playing with creative constraints—small rules to help me take action instead of spiral into overthinking.

This week’s rule? Make three reels. Post it. No overthinking allowed.

I’ve always struggled with speaking. I can write, but when I talk? My mind blanks. My throat tightens. My voice feels… uncertain.

So I started making voice-note-style reels.
Not because I love being on video—
but because I’m learning how to be seen without needing to be perfect.

And then this memory came back—

I was a little girl in a classroom. I heard yelling outside.
A classmate was being beaten—targeted because of who her mother was.
I stayed silent. My eyes dropped back to the book.

Now, in this reel-making, truth-telling stage of life, something in me whispers:

“You don’t have to carry that silence forever.
I’m here now. And I won’t be silent.”

So here I am.

Speaking.

Not flawlessly. Not confidently.
But I’m showing up. I’m telling the truth.

If you’ve ever frozen when it mattered most—
I see you.
And I believe we can practice a different ending.
